Tory has been in business for himself for 24 years. He sells
independent artist music, movies and CD for independent artist that are trying
to get noticed for their work. This has been a wonderful outcome for Mr.
Burrell because he has been able to accomplish goals by using his negotiation
skill to sell CD’s all over the Metro Detroit area independently.
D’Andrea: What do you think it takes to be a successful in
this career?
Tory: Hard work, dedication, patients, and loyalty to
customers and everyone that are involved in any business transaction.
D’Andrea: How do you determine or evaluate success?
Tory: Hard work keeps
it going, setting goals never quitting. Giving customers good deals to keep
them coming back, “I beat the competitor by ensure the prices are fair”.
D’Andrea: Give me an example of one of your successful
accomplishment?
Tory: Starting my own distribution business and being in business “twenty four years, and being able to triple
my profits every year, has been by far, best and successful accomplishment.
D’Andrea: How would you describe yourself in terms of your
ability to work as a member of a team?
Tory: In a team environment I listen to my teammates and work
to accomplish and set out goals for us as a team.
D’Andrea: What motivates you to put forth your greatest
effort?
Tory: The motivation comes from “never giving up or being a
quitter”, getting up everyday and setting goals for myself and for my business.
In addition keeping negativity off of my square.
D’Andrea: How do you handle positional bargaining tactics?
Tory: Being prepared to face the bargaining challenge,
making sure he’s out bidding the competition and faith in his abilities. Having
affordable packages for my customers, like two CD’s for five, four for ten and
eight for twenty therefore I have something for everyone’s budget.
D’Andrea: Can you give me an example of how you worked
toward “mutual benefit” when you were negotiating a deal?
Tori: Making sure that he’s not being demanding, making sure
prices are fair and the product is cost worthy. Not being greedy when
negotiating the deal.
